• Hello,
    Recently a strange issue came to life – I get mass “File Change” warning email, that contains only added files, and its value is thousands of file. Removed and Modified are zero.
    As if this feature reset itself and did the initial scan.
    Why is that?

  • Hi,

    That scan will inform you if files are added, removed or changed. It sounds like it only added files. You can view the report to see if you recognize where the changes came from. If you just uploaded a new plugin or performed an update that may be the cause of the files being added.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    I had updates in the past, of both full WP and plugin(s), but never with such quantity of changes, from all fronts – add, change and delete. And as far as I recall, these mass changes did not happen after a WP update. Also, it is not logical to be after a plugin changes since the changes span across many types of WP folders, including plugins and WP core.

    @eitanc,

    You may want to visit this link. Personally, we recommend deactivating the “File Detection Module.”

    The event you described above also happens to us quite frequently. We deactivated the module and our website speed increased quite a bit.

    For several years, we kept the “File Detection Module” enabled and, not once, did we have any problems resulting from “files added, files deleted,” etc. nor did we realize any benefits from it.

    We rely on several other sources for iron-clad website security: HTTPS, Cloudflare, Host Security Modules, and Sucuri.

    Cheers!

    Micha

    I exclude my cache folder because I received also a filechange warning after WP-rocket flush the cache folder.
