    Hello,

I would love to mass import event from xml file. Your calendar don’t support this kind of imports, but i managed to handle it. There is just one problem – by some reason you decided to use “_EventVenueID”. Because of that I need first create a list of places and then connect each event with right place.

When I’m trying add event in normal way, when some place don’t exist, then your calendar offer a easy way to create this place without levaing a page.

Why import is that complicated? Can’t you just add “_EventVenueName” and autocreate venues based on it?

    Just to add:

I searched for solution in your documentation and found nothing. But if there is something what could help with automation then please put a link here.

    Hi @siergiejten ,

    Thanks for starting this thread.

Unless you’re using Events Aggregator and importing in an iCal format, the venues (and organizers) will not be automatically created for you.

I understand that this may be an inconvenience, but because venues (and organizers) are a custom post type within our plugin, they require a unique ID to be properly associated with events. This ensures events are connected to pre-existing venues in the system, rather than creating new venues each time an event is imported.

That said, if you’re manually importing events in XML or CSV format, you would really need to import the venues first before importing the events.

I hope this information helps. Please let us know if you have further questions.

    Kind regards,

    Jean

“This ensures events are connected to pre-existing venues in the system, rather than creating new venues each time an event is imported.”

And it really would be that bad to give user a choice how they want import events? For me creating each time venue doesn’t sound that bad.

I’m sure that many others have problem with mass importing events because of this limits. Forcing to use venue id is really not user friendly solution. Why you can’t replace it by system based on venue name? Your system could auto merge duplicates based on name as well.

    Hi @siergiejten

I appreciate your feedback about the import limitations.

It would be great if you could send a feature request at this link: https://evnt.is/ideas. This would help us track users needing this feature.

I cannot provide you with an exact date for when this feature will be available. However, we take user ideas and contributions very seriously, and often, ideas our customers contribute end up in our future releases as they collect votes.

Instead of asking me to put this idea somewhere else, would be great to get some support.

Maybe you have some idea how to easy manage imports with over 1000 records (most of it have different venues). Import part is simple, but after that I have to connect each event manually with proper venue. It’s huge waste of time.

Maybe you have in your documentation some part of code which could help me?

    Hi @siergiejten

You could try importing them through a CSV file. Before you import your events, you need to import your venues and/or organizers first so that when you import your events, you’ll just use the venues/organizers’ name as a reference so that they will be connected accordingly.

Please see this knowledgebase article for more details. It also includes sample CSV files.

I hope this helps, and please let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
