• I am at the brink of uninstalling Wordfence as it is nearly impossible to work in combination with in the frontend with the WPBAKERY page builder anymore. As soon as I, for instance, place a link I get a box saying “Background Request Blocked”. It requires many clicks to get around this and a page reload to see the changes afterwards.

Why are there so many false positives? Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this? It is really very frustrating.

EDIT: I have read that “Training Mode” might help in such cases. Unfortunately, it is not a solution for me as I manage hundreds of sites and I am not wiling to switch back and forth with training mode all the time. Only option would be to permanently activate “Training Mode” is this a possible fix for the bug? Would there be any problems associated with having training mode permanently on?

Hi @phalancs, sorry to see you’ve been having trouble.

Ideally we wouldn’t recommend having Learning Mode on all the time going forward, because it may allow something as “normal” that shouldn’t be. However, we do normally keep it on for around 7 days after a fresh installation to catch possible false-positives in the immediate time period after installing Wordfence. For that reason, leaving it on for a week or so while you click around your site, perform normal actions, edit pages, etc. could help greatly reduce the false-positives you’ve been seeing.

If, after a week or so, you see Wordfence still actively blocking something that you’ve tried during Learning Mode, visit the?Live Traffic?page immediately afterwards. If there is a block, check the block reason after expanding the entry with the eye icon in the corner. You can filter Live Traffic by “Blocked” so it’s easier to find. You may find a specific firewall rule or Wordfence setting stated here after expanding the entry. The reason is shown in red text.

Feel free to paste that reason here if you’re unable to manually allowlist it successfully using the “ADD PARAM TO FIREWALL ALLOWLIST” button on the Live Traffic page.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
