Massive server load during traffic spikes – Object cache setting suggestion?

We run a traffic heavy site and have noticed the Post View Counter plugin causes heavy load when we have large traffic spikes. We’ve changed between PHP, JavaScript and REST API counter modes, and all seem to have the same impact. I have a few questions:
- What is the most effective counter mode? Currently we use REST API
- What is the suggested Flush Object Cache Interval for the best performance? Could we start with it at 1 minute?
- When will the Pro version of the plugin be released?
