Master Login Page

I’m sure that this is covered somewhere, but how do I create a master (all users) login page on my PPWP site…and then upon successful login, show a master page with links to other p/w protected pages (that part I get)?
It would be ideal to have some sort of menu item appear in my site’s menu for the logged in users, but that’s not critical if not possible.
Anyone?
