First of all, thank you very much for adding support for Mastodon, it really is a wonderful thing! ?? As soon as I saw the option to configure it, I ran to try it, but I would say that something is missing.

That is, in the Mastodon app I have activated, in addition to what is active by default, as it says in the tutorial, I have activated:

    • read:accounts
    • write:statuses
    • write:media

I have made sure to copy the access token and correctly enter the URL of the Mastodon Instance (in my case https://mastodon.social/@NextNnet), but when I connect I receive this message: “Mastodon authentication response not understood” , and “Mastodon requires authentication. Update your settings to enable XPoster to send updates to Mastodon.”

Once Mastodon was connected to Xposter, I saw on the configuration screen that the “UserName” section is blank. Is it because of this? I get the feeling that some step is missing. Thank you so much!

Try allowing the app all ‘read’ scopes. However, that sounds like it may be something else -the response “not understood” is the fallback when the connection attempt didn’t match any of the expected structures.

In looking into this, I did see a misnamed variable; so this might actually be the ‘noconnection’ error. If so, you may want to enable authentication debugging under Advanced Settings. (“Get Debugging Data for OAuth Connection”)

Hi Joe! Thanks for the response! I’ve been testing, even activating all the options, but it doesn’t work. But isn’t it strange that it doesn’t load the username? Look at the image:

    Thanks for sharing the screenshot!

From that, I can see that your instance url is wrong – it looks like you’ve entered the link to your profile, rather than to your instance. You should omit your handle – just https://mastodon.social.

Oh, sorry, I’m still learning how this Mastodon thing works haha. I have removed the name from the account and it now works perfectly ?????? Thank you very much Joe!

@joedolson I have created an account on https://mastodon.social/ (Not https://toot.io)

New application created, relevant permissions granted and finally took Access Token and pasted it to XPoster settings, then added Mastodon Instance: https://mastodon.social

But it always failed. I tried several times but no success so far.
