Math ReCaptcha isn’t working anymore

    Hi,
    For some reason the math recpatcha no longer works. We noticed a big uptick in spam user registrations, after some investigation it turns out the math captcha, when left blank or solved incorrectly doesn’t stop the registration.

    Any idea what’s going on?

    Hi,
    Could it be a conflict with another plugin/theme? Have you done some checking to see if that’s the case?

    Have you tried the google reCaptcha v2 setting? Does that work?

    Wanted to report the same issue and it also displays that browser cookies must be enabled even though they are.

    Have disabled the plugin until the plethora of issues are resolved.

    I haven’t explored the possibility of a plugin conflict yet, I’m planning on doing that over the weekend. If I find a conflict I’ll report it back.

    I haven’t tried the Google reCaptcha v2 because we are using a membership plugin that doesn’t seem to allow for the use of Google reCaptcha, it apparently blocks all registration attempts. Also the All-in-One WP Security only targets the login page, we need to use it on the registration page.

    Ok, I did some testing on an older staging server, which as luck would have it; there was an earlier version of All-in-One WP Security installed (version 4.3.8.3). That version worked correctly every time I tested it.

    I tested the older version by toggling each plugin off; then trying to register a new account leaving the Math Captcha unsolved. Each time the the registration failed as expected.

    I next updated All-in-One WP Security to the current version (v4.3.9.4), then went through all the site’s plugins and themes, testing each of them by toggling them off and trying to register and new account.

    Each time I left the Math Captcha empty, and each time I was able to register an account in spite of the unsolved Math Captcha.

    So I don’t think this is a plugin conflict. Sometime after version 4.3.8.3 the Math Captcha stopped working.

    I hope this information is helpful, and you’ll be able to patch this soon. Thanks for looking into this problem

    Update:
    I grabbed a copy of the older version of All-in-One WP Security and installed it on the live site, and now the Math Captcha is working.
