The “MathJax-Latex” allows use of the shortcode [latex] and [\latex] to define a region for latex mode. That works, e.g., I am able to write latex equation arrays and they appear correctly - however, at the beginning and ending of the latex region the character sequences "\(" and "\)" respectively appear in the final output. These are in fact the control character sequences to allow inline display in MathJax - that is probably linked to the reason why they mistakenly appear in the output.

"MathJax-Latex" is the only plugin installed so no possibility of conflict.

On the MathJax-Latex plugin settings page, there is a setting:

    Default [latex] syntax attribute. Inline

If I change it to the other alternative

    Default [latex] syntax attribute. Display

then the unwanted characters change from \(, \) to \[, \].

    It is MathJax-LaTeX version 1.3.8

I am looking for advice on stopping these unwanted characters from appearing.

  • The same problem appeared for me. Before it was ok. But now all my equations stopped working. Did you find the way to fix?
