    Hi,
I installed Matomo on my website but for some reason it doesn’t seem to register any hits. What I’ve tried so far:
    – checked if the JS file is loaded correctly: yes
    – checked for JS errors: none
    – checked if there are any errors in diagnostics: none
    – disabled other plugins: no difference
    – checked if there were any unusual settings in wp-config: default settings only
    – made sure WP, themes and plugins are fully up to date

I’ve tested with loading the site in separate browsers, using a mobile network and asked other people to visit the site. I have a second tracking system set up (Plausible) and it does register all the hits.

Any idea what other cause there could be? Thanks

  • Hi @eva_b

Do you have visits in your Matomo visitors log?

    Kind regards

    Hi Mat

No there aren’t any visitor logs. It says “There is no data for this report.”

    Thanks for checking!

I don’t have anything active of tag manager at the moment. I only installed Matomo and activated tracking. I haven’t done any further setup.

    Hi @eva_b

can you share with me your website url at [email protected]?

You should be able to see it below my first post? It has a “The page I need help with” link. Or is that not visible to you?

    Thanks

    sorry I missed it.

    Hi @eva_b

The tracker cannot be reached: the call ends with a 403 (forbidden) error.
Check your file permissions for the file wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/matomo.php.
Do you use ithemes security plugin? If yes, you must allow execution of php scripts in the wp-content/plugins folder.

    Kind regards

I’m using WP Cerber, I think it might be picking up requests to wp-content/plugins/matomo/app/matomo.php as bots, though I’ve had Cerber + Matomo on other sites before with no issue.

I added matomo.php to the exceptions and changed the file permissions but I still don’t see any data. Or does it take a while for the data to show up in the back end?

    thanks again for your help

    hi @eva_b

the tracker call is not blocked anymore. So you should get some data in the real time report and in the visitor log.
Do you have data now in the visitor log?
The others reports are build asynchronously by a cron task so it could be normal that you don’t have for now data in these reports.
    Kind regards

    Hi Mat,

The visitor log now shows 2 visits so I think that solved the issue! Thanks very much for your time
