• Hi, what is the best method to install Matomo Tag Manager in a WordPress instance?

Does this plugin support doing so? I see the “Enable tracking” section, where I could use “Default tracking”, which I assume only adds Matomo Analytics, but not the other tags in the container.

If there isn’t a native way to do this in the plugin, I am thinking of using the “Enter manually” option in this plugin to add the Matomo Tag Manager script to this.

Is this the best practice method? Or should I do that with a plugin like Code Snippet?

    Many thanks!

To clarify, I am using Matomo On-premise, not Matomo for WP. So WP-Matomo is what I’m using to bridge between WP and Matomo.

WP-Matomo has no integrated support for the Tag Manager, but yes, you can extend the tracking script by switching to “enter manually”.

If you want to keep the auto-configuration of your tracking script anyway, you should add the Tag Manager script to your theme or by using an additional plugin.
