Hi there,

I am considering tracking the urls visited by AMP users using matomo.

I have followed the instructions provided here: https://ampforwp.com/tutorials/article/how-to-add-matomo-piwik-analytics-in-amp/. To enable tracking, I needed to configure and embed this code: “https://YOUR_PIWIK_BASE_INSTALLATION_URL/piwik.php?idsite=1&rec=1& action_name=TITLE&urlref=DOCUMENT_REFERRER&url=CANONICAL_URL& rand=RANDOM”

I can see the TITLE and CANONICAL_URL fields in real time tracking. However, CANONICAL_URL is communicated not as a full url. It gets communicated without the https and therefore doesn’t get processed by matomo. I tried inserting “https://” or “https:%2F%2F” before CANONICAL_URL but somehow I can only get “https://” passed to Matomo as “https:/” so it doesn’t get processed correctly as a url.

How can I make sure that full urls get passed to matomo?

Will you please tell us more about why you need the full URL because we have removed the protocol because if someone has HTTP then there may face some errors so it’s better to remove the protocol and that will work perfectly for HTTP and also HTTPS websites.

Hi Ahmed, we need the full url because the analytics tool that we are planning to use, Matomo, needs the full URL to record the visited URL. If the analytics tool doesn’t receive the full url, the url doesn’t get recorded by the tool. So we end up having no idea about how many times a page is being viewed in AMP mode,

Does that explain the issue?

It is a valid bug. And for this, We have raised a GitHub ticket in our repository. Our developer works on it and fixes it in the next updates.

We fixed it in our latest update 1.0.77.24. Can you please check it once by updating it to the latest and let us know back if it works or not?
