    Apache Solr can manage virtually any # of documents (woocommerce products), and so can do our gotosolr hosting.

    You can have several difficulties however.

    1) Time to index your 2M documents, and to re-index them when you change your indexing settings, or sometimes when the plugin is updated and requires a change of data model.

    2) Presentation: WPSOLR is a general purpose search client. We do not have a specific presentation for an e-commerce website.

    What are the best sections of a woocommerce product to provide the facets. Is it tags, attributes, categories etc etc?

    You can use product_cat and product_tag, which are standard taxonomies.

    Unfortunately, product attributes are custom table, and therefore are not reachable in WPSOLR, yet.
