So I am getting back to my old blog, and needed to know what the max width for images in this 2019 theme is. It seems it re-sizes anything I need, but I wanted to know a good standard that works with the theme, or if it was smarter to resize larger pics down to some standard. For example, the pic at the top that is linked here is larger than what I have it in the blog, so should it be reduced down to, say, 800 wide? If not, what is the standard width for this blog so I can make sure all images adhere at least to that standard width?

    If that makes sense! haha

    Thanks,

    Beau

  • You shouldn’t have to resize your images to fit your theme. The theme should make whatever images you have look good. But they don’t all do that.
You also don’t have to use the Twenty Nineteen theme. It’s just the new default theme. There are plenty of other themes that (in my opinion) look way better.

From the sticky in this forum, I found the codex page https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Twenty_Nineteen , which has

On a 1440px laptop screen, the main column width is up to 1032px wide with the one column layout.
There is one widget area in the footer with a column width of 1032px.
The recommended Featured Image size is 2000px wide by 1200px high.

Thanks Joy! That makes sense. I just cleaned out like 100 old unused themes, so I am trying to get much more simple lol

I’ll check out some others, thanks again. ??

Twenty Nineteen like Twenty Seventeen utilises ‘responsive images’, which means the image will be a cut down version for people on smaller devices. That’s a good thing and it’s driven for common users of your site than the expert ones.

Did Joy resolve your query about the max widths? If not, can you expand on the issue you’re facing?
