Maxbutton not showing, while others are showing

    I’m just setting up a new website and have used Maxbuttons for a few different processes. My most recent two buttons are for downloading a PDF of articles. The first one worked. The second one, which is basically a duplicate of the first, but with a different URL, doesn’t appear at all. I’ve cleared the cache with no effect. I’ve tried deleting and re-doing the button, but it still doesn’t show up. With buttons, I’ve only modified the text, URL, size, and padding. I’m baffled….

    I’ve tried using the variations listed for the short code. A button, but the wrong appearance (button title) shows up with the correct URL. Example: The button title should be “Download PDF,” but the button appears as “Join” (maxbutton id=”1″), but with the correct URL, when I put in the shortcode = [maxbutton id=”4″ url=”the-pdf-url”]. I’m assuming that you can only have one button titled “Download PDF.” For multiple uses with different URL’s, you have to use the expanded shortcode: [maxbutton id=”4″ url=”pdf-url’]. But why does the wrong button image appear?

    I would help if you have a page with examples I can check. When using the shortcode, with the button ID, that is leading in loading the button. The button title is irrelevant in that situation.

    I hope you are not using backticks (″) as here in the forums, but the real ", otherwise it won’t work.

    If the site is not live perhaps you can share screenshots of the page, how the shortcodes look in the page builder / editor and of the button editor?

    Bas — Thanks for your note.

    I tried copying and pasting from the Button settings short code, as well as from other buttons that work.

    However, I tried again today, and it worked, which is great, but frustrating in that I have no idea what was wrong in the first place.

    If this sort of thing happens again, I’ll probably go to a different set of plugins for a button. I wasted far too much time on this issue. So, I’ll just have to wait and see.

    When used correctly the plugin works. On basis of this information I can’t really tell what was wrong.
