I’ve noticed two issues with this new feature:

    1) default width seems to be 1280 which is none of the drop down list items
    2) drop down list displays only 2…, 2…, 1…, D…, so the actual 2560 etc do not fit horizonally to drop down

    Hello @sailahen,

Let me address your questions one at a time:

    1) By default WordPress automatically applies maximum image width of 2560px. The Maximum Image Width functionality in our plugin allows you to override this setting but only if the uploaded image size is larger than the listed ones. If the size of the uploaded images is 1280px most probably this is their original size which is less than the available options. In this case, the image will not be resized. Another possibility is for the default maximum image width to be overridden by another plugin installed on your site.

    2) This is a small misfunction that happens after an update. It can be easily resolved by simply choosing one of the options. This will fix the issue and you will be able to set the option at the desired size afterward.

    2) Yes, that I noticed and then also new max width changed from 1280 to 1920. Anyway there is problem with SG Optimizer that it doesn’t set default value as Disabled but leaves it undefined (or 1280?) causing this truncated drop down list. Now I need to manually set value for each WordPress installation to prevent this 1280 issue.

All in all, this is really good addition especially if some not so technical is uploading images. Usually at least 4K to some direction or even more ??

I have just tested the Maximum Image Width functionality and it works as intended on my end. I have uploaded a quite large image (7016×9933). If the Maximum Image Width is set to Disabled – the image size remains the same. Then I changed the setting to 1920px and the image was successfully resized to that size.

If the behavior on your end is different, please provide us with more information on how to recreate it on our end (you may include some screenshots as well). If your site is hosted at SiteGround, please provide us with the URL.

I found now one site where problem occurs, ie. default max width is undefined https://forculus.fi/ (hosted on SG).

    Hello @sailahen,

This is actually the malfunction my colleague Delyan mentioned:

    2) This is a small misfunction that happens after an update. It can be easily resolved by simply choosing one of the options. This will fix the issue and you will be able to set the option at the desired size afterward.

Indeed, the default value for Maximum Width is not defined by default and you should manually choose a value. I would also like to note that the plugin’s developers have been notified about that.

    Best regards,
