• Won’t work today. Never had a problem before. I click on Add Media and nothing happens. So I go to Media on my dashboard and click on gallery and a box appears asking me if I want to leave the page. When I finally get into my library and click on picture and click on the word “attach” a box opens up with the list of my blogs, but it is all in gray and when I try to click on the post, it closes. I rebooted my computer. I re-installed Word Press 3.6.1 and nothing works.

I’ve apologized to my readers for no pictures tomorrow.

  • Is the server out of disk space?
Are there any error messages in your browser?
Is your host locking down permissions on the server?

Plenty of disk space. no error messages that I’ve seen. If the host was, than I suspect nothing would work. But I was able to prepare a new post with links and schedule the date, use tags, etc. Only the media button won’t work.

Now I can’t get a graph for my Slimstat plugin. No matter what I do on my dashboard I’m asked if I want to leave this page and then to get to the item, say media, I get thrown out of my blog site and have to re-open it. It’s driving me nuts.

Have you tried deactivating ALL plugins and switching to the default theme?

    (@grwinscott)

I use the default theme, but I have not deactivated all plugins. I hate the thought of having to reinstall them and follow the directions in my book WordPress for Beginners. I’m so non-computer friendly. I almost regret starting a blog.

    Try deactivating just Jet Pack.

Deactivating isn’t deleting them. You can click deactivate on each plugin.

But first, have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies or tried another browser?

FWIW, lots of people start out where you are and learn as they go. You can too!

I deactivated all plugins. but to do so, I had to leave my site and start a new page. Now I’ll save to sign in again to open my site. no matter what I click on I get thrown out of my site. the problems keep compounding. Be back in a second

Back in. when I click on Add Media nothing happens.

I don’t know hoe to clean browser cache. Also when I signed in yesterday, I was told to update internet explorer to 11, but I only use windows 7 not 8

no matter what I click on I get thrown out of my site. the problems keep compounding.

You’ll need to use FTP or Cpanel to access your site files and rename the plugins folder – you can find it here:

    wp-content
        plugins.HOLD

Ask your hosting company for help if you aren’t familiar with using FTP or Cpanel – those are not part of WP – but a way to access files on a remote server. See also:

BTW, try downloading and using Firefox or Chrome – they are much better browsers for web work.

I give up. Is there an expert I can hire to come to my house and fix all the problems? I live in Orange county California.

You can post a job listing here:

    https://jobs.wordpress.net

You might also want to consider using WordPress.COM to host your site – as that does not require back-end set-up and maintenance, though there are trade-offs on what you can do on a WP.COM site – see:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Also, the forum guidelines require that we close threads once they get onto hiring someone – nothing personal, they just attract too much spam. If you want further help, please feel free to open a new thread and include a link to this one if relevant :).
