    Hi,

These may both fall under Feature Requests rather than Problems.

    – Why don’t images from the Media Library automatically show as “Attached” when added to/part of a Jetpack Gallery?

    – From what I have briefly read, there is no easy way to turn off the “Comments” from a Jetpack Gallery when the lightbox opens. You have to either add code, or use a plugin to disable the comments box. Why can’t this be added when creating a gallery in the Create Gallery screen > “Turn On/Off Comments” tick box?

    Thanks
    Andrew

    Hi there!

Why don’t images from the Media Library automatically show as “Attached” when added to/part of a Jetpack Gallery?

Jetpack Galleries use the default Gallery shortcode, which has been part of WordPress since WP version 3.5. The default behavior of the WordPress Gallery Shortcode is that photos set using a gallery are not attached to the specific post. You can read more about this here:

Again, we use the built-in Gallery function of WordPress, so that functionality would need to be changed in WordPress itself. Thus, the only way you can disable that currently is to add the code to a functionality plugin to hide the display of the comments box.

I hope that clarifies things! Marking as resolved as this is the expected behavior for galleries.

    Thanks.
I also realized that I can turn off the comments at the bottom of the media file/image edit page. Just need to remember to do that every time, or use a code or plugin.
