Media Folders not longer displayed

I used this plugin on a client project to categorize around 800 media files. All worked well in the beginning. I was about to purchase the PRO version to add more folders but then suddenly out of nowhere the plugin had a major issue: on the media page the Mediamatic folders are all gone.

They are not displayed any longer even though the terms are still inside the database. They also seem to be correctly assigned to taxonomy “mediamatic_wpfolder”. Only thing I noticed it that the slugs don’t match the original term name anymore. I added a new folder just for test purposes which is displayed successfully. But all other folders are not loaded.

When inserting media I can see that the hierarchy of some folder is broken, i.e. sub folders are now on 1st level.

Now I’m left with 800 categorized images that cannot use anymore. Any ideas how that happend and how I can fix that?
