    Hi Folks,

    I searched and searched and found something with regards to PHP udating with my host and emailed them, they sent me this reply;

    “Hello Jerry,

Thank you for contacting DreamHost Technical Support.

In regards to your questions :

“Hi there, my media library isn’t loading, when I tried to troubleshoot
through online forums, a topic that continually came up was php updating
    on the hosts end.”

Upon investigating your account, it appears the issue is due to the
plugins “nextgen-gallery” and “nextgen-gallery-pro”. It appears while the
plugin is on, the media library doesn’t function properly. While
disabling these plugins, the media library appears just fine on the
    account.

I’d recommend testing your account with and without the plugins
nextgen-gallery. If you still require this plugin, I’d recommend
contacting the plugin developer for any workarounds or fixes.”

When I tested with and without the plugins activated, with, I get the same problem of no media content loading, without, my galleries disappear from view on the site.

I’m no webmaster here, so any help would be greatly appreciated! ??

@velvetsteele44 If you log in to your DreamHost panel and edit the domain, you’ll be able to see what version of PHP you’re using

    https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/214895317-How-do-I-change-the-PHP-version-of-my-site-

I don’t know what version this plugin requires, but you can try changing it to see if that helps.

    Hi @velvetsteele44

Let’s first check the server settings to make sure you have everything up to date. Reach out to your hosting provider and confirm they have the https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/ settings in place:

With those in place, everything should work smoothly for you. If the issue still shows up, let’s check to see if there is a plugin conflict happening. Temporarily deactivate all plugins, then reactivate NextGEN Gallery only. Does the issue still appear? If so, temporarily switch to a WordPress default theme (this deactivation is only intended to quickly check to see if the issue goes away or is still present). If by deactivating the other plugins the issue does go away, reactivate each of the other plugins one at a time to locate the culprit. Keep me posted on your results ??

P.S. Also, I see that they have mentioned NextGen Pro.
Please note that here we are providing support for the free NextGen Gallery only.

You will need an active account with us and to contact via your Imagely member’s account for any NextGen Pro troubleshooting: https://www.imagely.com/support/

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Hi @mihaiimagely
    Thanks for your reply.

I have Next Gen Pro, but for some context as to the recent activity, I contacted Dreamhost, my host, and they deactivated both the NextGen Pro and NextGen Gallery. I did as you mentioned in reactivating NextGen Gallery only, and nothing appeared at all, the gallery was gone. My next step I took was to activate only the Pro, and still no gallery appeared, then activated them both, and my galleries were both back. This problem has only been happening in the past month and a half.

Although, I am not sure, but wonder if it has anything to do with the new block system of post creation WordPress has put out. Which I am not to happy with.

I am going to share with my host what you have written previous and see what they say.

    Thanks again

    Hi @ipstenu

Thanks for your reply, I’ll be asking my host exactly as you write, I can’t seem to access the PHP, but my host in a previous reply, suggested the problem was with NextGen Pro, and NextGen Gallery.

    Thanks again

@velvetsteele44 If you don’t have access to change PHP (which you SHOULD if you can log in to your DreamHost panel), you can ask DreamHost to do. HOWEVER. If you’re not emailing from the account with panel access, they’re going to say no, since you could be scamming them (they can’t be expected to know who you are, which is why you should use panel ?? )

    Hi @ipstenu

The Dreamhost panel is where i messaged them from, I’ll ask for them to look at the PHP, but they seemed confident it was within the plugin itself. I’m scared to touch it myself as I don’t believe myself that savvy ??

    Thanks again

The PHP change is super easy and safe. Make a note of what you’re on, change it, and if it doesn’t work, you can change it back.

Also it’s possible if you have auto-update PHP set, that the update is what did this.

At the very least, you can go see what version you’re on and tells us ??

    Hi @velvetsteele44,

Just to complete this. You will need to have both NextGen Gallery and Pro enabled in order to be able to see the galleries that use a Pro gallery display type – so that’s absolutely normal that you couldn’t see any galleries with NextGen Gallery only as active or Pro.

I will mark this one as resolved since it looks like you aren’t getting any issues with it now.

    hi @mihaiimagely

    well two things now,
1)I had most update the PHP to 7.2, it was at 5.? and both are activated and seems to be running super smooth!

    2) as well my original problem of the media galleries taking forever to load, if at all, seems to be tickety boo as well!

I can only assume that the PHP not being updated was the culprit

Again thank you for the support and replies! Thank you everyone!!!

    Helped me trouble shoot immensely!
