media gone after wp update to 6.5.4

  • Hello,

    After updating my site to 6.5.4 I found all of my images are not being shown. I did the following:

    1. Checked in cpanel to see if the images are in the database. They are.
    2. Turned off plugins and reactivated one at a time. No change.
    3. Checked wp forums for same problem. Found instance where same thing happened with update to 6.5.3. It was suggested to delete .htaccess at wp-content/uploads/.htaccess. Went to public_html/wp-content/uploads. Did not find .htaccess.

    What am I missing?
