• Hi!

I haven’t been working with WordPress for years now, so maybe/hopefully things have changed… Is a photo gallery plugin still required to handle graphical files or is the internal media section “good enough” now? I remember that it easily became incalculable before, when photos were mixed together with pdf files and other graphical objects for the web site.

  • Hi, @lensv , the Media Library allows you to locate the media items by type such as “Documents” or “Images.”

I’m not sure how it was previously when you were using WordPress.

Here’s a screenshot demonstrating its search abilities: https://snipboard.io/XmTq2I.jpg

    Thanks Ian!

Sorting by media type is helpful indeed, but is there still no way to separate a bunch of images form each other (like subfolders or something like that)?

Plugins like: Enhanced Media Library or Media Library Organizer should help.

Have a look at them here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/search/media+categorize/

    So,

A plugin is still required to accomplish this?

You haven’t mentioned if the suggested Media Addons link provided above, gave you anything useful.

To your original question; “Is a photo gallery plugin still required to handle graphical files or is the internal media section “good enough” now?” the answer is “it depends”. We know the Media Library will provide for formats other than images. Your question isn’t specific enough to provide a specific answer.

At this point, you should provide more information on your situation or mark this Thread as Resolved.
