Media library and plug in issues after server crash

  • Synology DS411 running wordpress and mySQL. After a crash right in the middle of updating WordPress had issues with both programs. Config file got lost during crash and recovery. Restored a backup, figured out how to get into mysql again (something obviously changed somewhere) and made a test post in wordpress. An all text post posted but can not upload image to the library.Get error:

    “2014-11-17 12.29.53.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
    The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/11.

    Any ideas what to fix. I know just enough to install and get working a couple years ago and can follow help in forums. WordPress shows as version 3.9.2-028 and I don’t know if that was the one downloading at the time of crash but it does not show updatable in package center.

    Edit: I just tried to update a couple plugins and it was asking for Hostname and FTP credentials. That has never happened before. hopefully that will give more clues about what got screwed up.

    This server (NAS box) runs on my home network with static IP. Site loads both from inside and from the web.
