• Hi there,

I have just transferred my wordpress site to a new host server. Everything seemed fine until I tried uploading a 1MB photo into a post. This is the error I received.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 11264 bytes) in /home2/********/public_html/site/wp-includes/media.php on line 258

I’ve never received an error when uploading a photo before so I assume I’ve done (or haven’t done) something during the transfer process.

I tried deleting and re uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes directories but am still receiving the error.

It does not happen with small images but I should be able to upload up to 2MB (shouldn’t I?). I have version3.4.1.

Any advice would be welcomed. Ta

  • Greetings,

Your new web host may have a smaller memory limit for “upload_max_filesize.”

If your host has cPanel, you can probably check for “PHP Configuration.”

Anyway, this is not a WordPress issue: Check with your new host regarding maximum upload size.

    Good Luck,
    Paul
