• I have noticed this issue on a couple of sites i.e. the media library is greyed out when you try to add an image from it.

I tested one site, before upgrading to 4.1. It worked fine, the media library was clear and normal. I then upgraded to WordPress 4.1 and the media library, while you could still select an image, had all images greyed out. This is not workable and needs to be fixed asap. I am working with very light colour swatches and it is making it impossible to work this way.

Any ideas why this is happening. I have screen shots to show you if that helps.

This is easy to test, if you have a site that has not been updated to 4.1.
IF you view the media library, it looks ok. The greyed out images only are shown when you try to add an image from the media library.

    Hi,

Have you tried disabling all other plugins and using the default theme (twenty fifteen at this time) and seen if the problem still persists? It looks like the overlay might be getting a wrong z-index value on your setup at this point.

If neither of the above solves it, could you tell us what browser version you are on (and OSX version as well might be handy).

    Hi

I have tried disabling plugins, but didn’t make a difference, but the telltale sign was on a particular test site, with the gallery looking ‘normal’, I updated WordPress to 4.1 and that was all I did. Instantly, the Media Library looked ‘wrong’. Indicates a WordPress problem to me.

I don’t have the opportunity to test a new version of wordpress on 4.1 as yet.

I am using Safari 7.1.2. Also happens in Internet Explorer 11.

Same here, but get this only this week, so I think nothing to do with the update.

Saying it’s a WordPress problem won’t help us help you, we need to replicate the issue because obviously it’s not happening for everyone.

If you’re using a clean installation (no plugins active, but the standard theme active) then let us know of the errors you’re getting in your browser’s console: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors (if any)

I do have the EXACT (!) same problem after an update to WP 4.1. two days ago. I can try, like Marius suggested, to switch back to the default theme (using DIVI right now) to see if the problem is still there. I am experiencing the same problem on different browsers. Or did you GND13 come up with a solution?

    Kind regards,
    Tanja

Same problem here, running Divi, Wp updated, media library is grey. I see no answers here, anyone have a solution?

I think this ended up being a DIVI / jquery problem. Is your DIVI theme updated to latest? I was given code, but this was fixed in January and since then the issue seems to be fixed.

You can see the support ticket on Divi forum and the fix that was used then, however the latest version should have fixed the problem.
