Media Library links once worked…now don't

    I’m having a problem with many of the items (but not all) in my media library. PDFs, for instance, that were easily viewed before, now have been replaced with a page of crazy letters and numbers. And yet other pdfs or jpgs work just fine.

    I try to replace those pdfs with working copies from my computer hard drive, and then when I view them on wordpress, they are just crazy letters and numbers again.

    When you try to click on the links on my website (ie check out https://www.orchardpeople.com/media and click on the first link “A crop of gifts for gardeners) it then redirects to the 404 page (which for some reason is just a list of blog entries). This always worked in the past. Now if I look at the actual PDF in the media library by pressing VIEW then it just comes up all squiggles and letters. And as I said above, if I try to replace that media with a copy that works on my computer and looks great, then once it’s uploaded it’s all squiggles and numbers and letters again.

    Any idea what might be happening?
