Hi, I am currently on the latest version of Plugin (1.18.1). Since the update, the plugin has made Loading Media Library extremely slow ( almost 50-60 seconds).

As soon as I deactivate the plugin, everything starts working as expected. And this is the only plugin, which post deactivation makes Media Library load times normal.

I ran a health check and didnt see any issues. Should I downgrade to a previous version?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

@adamdunnage , I did reduce size and it did make some improvements. However, I had to add about 100 images and 20 videos to Library today.

Post this, the web story is literally crawling. I cannot even open the editor. Neither can media library be loaded with stories plugin enabled.

As a matter of fact, I am getting a gateway timeout when trying to open the editor

@arpitkr Large files generally take a long time to load in the browser regardless of plugins so this may not be related to the plugin.

You can also try these suggestions as well:

    – Make sure your videos meet the guidelines of 1280×720 file size.
    – Optimize your videos 1 at a time.
    – Optimize videos locally on your computer before uploading.

We plan on releasing version 1.19.0 of the plugin this week. Perhaps, you can update the Web Stories plugin, enable the mini-plugin again, then check if you are still getting long load times.

@luckynasan , I do understand that. However, none of the media I added since yesterday was large per say.

I can assure you I have done everything I could to find any local conflicts possible, I just didn’t find any atall.

I uninstalled web stories yesterday and installed make stories, a 3rd party plugin which helps create web stories

I can assure you that it works like a charm. Loads the media library in less then 2 seconds.

To me, it seems that Web stories tries to build some kind of cache of its own, which ends up slowing it down.

Now becauze we have alot of multimedia, we do alot of optimizations already. No other media related plugin has ever caused any issue.

I will wait for the update to test it again. And if you like, I would be more then happy to share the login credentials with your team to debug.

At this point, make stories will serve the purpose just fine, but I am now extremly curious to understand what may be causing this issue with web stories plugin

@arpitkr Did it help after updating the Web Stories plugin and using the mini-plugin?

    Unfortunately no

@arpitkr Thanks for following up. I’m sorry to hear that updating the plugin didn’t help with this issue.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to reproduce your issue from the outside and we are not allowed admin access as it is against the forum guidelines.

Might we suggest using something like Blackfire.io (there’s a free version) to do profiling on a local development server? Profiling is collecting deep performance metrics while the code is running, and have full details and context on the code’s behavior to find the root cause of performance bottlenecks.

We are going to mark your topic as resolved as we haven’t received a response. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to experience any issues. Thank you!
