• I am creating a staging version of a website using WordPress 6.0 running Divi theme.

The media library was working fine, but now there are missing images.
What’s odd though is that there are still ‘blank/placeholder’ images shown in the media library, but even when I click in there doesn’t appear to be any image content.

    refer screenshots:
    https://snipboard.io/h30Q5V.jpg
    https://snipboard.io/DwqzTv.jpg

    Plugins:
Contact Form 7, Duplicator, Really Simple SSL, WP Bruiser.
All of which had been active and working when the media library worked fine.
I tried disabling anyway nut ,media library error is unaffected

    Wordpress Version 6.0
    Theme Divi
    PHP version 7.4.29
    Server 10.3.35-MariaDB (client version 10.3.34-MariaDB)

media settings: Uploading Files Organise my uploads into month- and year-based folders – is NOT ticked.

I can’t think of any changes I made which might have contributed to this.

    Any thoughts?

How did you create the staging site?

One of the missing images, on the front side of your site, is https://staging.nourishedpathways.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/nutrition-icon-small-6.png

Is that file physically in the staging site’s uploads directory?

Just created a wordpress install in staging.nourishedpathways.com.au directory inside the home duirectory.
(the live site is is nourishedpathways.com.au in the public_html directory)

There’s no file called that in that directpory, no.

But there are a heap of files with filenames like:69133742_389716988356780_7649924971422023680_n.jpg

The two that have ‘normal’ names eg nutritionist-02.png

Note the different file extensions in case its relevant.

Also every file has about 5 versions (the image and various different sizes – thumbnails I assume)

And lastly I have uploaded 3 files (first three pictures visible in the first screenshot) in the last few days but there’s no 2022/06 directory ?

Again, how did you create the staging site? What DB manipulations did you do? How did you copy the files?

IIRC I started from scratch not using the existing website as a basis – but from square one.
Maybe the staging site should be inside the public_html folder rather than outside it?

Also it occurs to me that perhaps in this case ‘staging site’ may be a bit misleading. Rather than making some changes to an existing live website, I am actually creating a new website from scratch which will REPLACE the existing website. Not looking just to push some changes across etc.

The idea would be that the existing website would be (backed up and) deleted, and that the new site (which I am calling the staging site at the moment) will be shifted to the primary domain.

Just wanted to clarify that so we are all talking about the same thing ??

I created the staging website following my host instructions here: https://ventraip.com.au/faq/article/creating-a-staging-environment-in-cpanel/
but didnt copy across the existing site, instead I created a fresh wordpress install. It’s that install which I am building the new site on.

Well it has been a while and I have yet to determine how this occurred or any way to solve it.

If anyone sees this – any other ideas?
