    Hi folks,

I am curious as to why when i upload an image to the WordPress media library and look at the site through the cpanel file manager, does it appear to have produced numerous copies of the same image at various dimensions. See the screenshot below for an example.

In this example i have uploaded an image named ‘nike_logo’, and although it appears only once in the media library through the WordPress dashboard, if i view the uploads folder through file manager you can see that there are in fact 5 variations of the image!

Can anyone explain why this happens and is there a way to stop it??

    Thanks.

The images are created according to the configured image dimensions in Settings->Media. In theory, if all of these dimensions are greater than your largest image upload, no additional copies will be created.

Thanks for that, i’ve changed my settings and it seems to have worked. Cheers
