After updating to the most recent version of WP, when I upload an image in the media library, it will upload as it normally would, but at the very end it is saved with the word “scaled” on the end of my file name and the image is resized from the large size that I am trying to upload. Until the update, I frequently uploaded images that are sized 8100 x 4500 pixels for use in slideshows that are presented on very large screen televisions for my business. There was never an issue uploading these to the media library before. Now suddenly, it is changing the size from 8100 x 4500 to 2560 x 1422 and adding scaled on the end of the file name. Is there a setting I need to go in and change? I tried changing the max height and width for large images, that did not help. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

  • This is part of the 5.3 release. There is a filter you can use to change the threshold of what is considered a large image.

Thank you so much for the quick response! I had searched and searched and was evidently using the wrong terms and could not find the answer. Fixed the issue and am able to upload the photos I needed.

I also had the same question, so thank you for the info! This was one of those issues that’s incredibly hard to find via Google searches given that it’s hard to come up with unique search terms that point specifically to this issue!
