• Good morning everyone,

The search feature on the media library seems to broken. Whenever I try to search anything it just takes me to the actual Website instead of displaying the results of my search. This also happens inside the Post page when I need to insert an image and have to look for it, that little pop-up window goes straight to the site and no results are displayed.

I’m hoping someone here who has had the same problem is able to help or suggest some ideas. No new plug-ins have been installed and this just started happening about a week ago.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I search the forum before posting this but it looks like no real solution was given. I hope we can find one.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    Hi Esmi,

Thanks for your help. The problem I’m having with changing the to the Twenty Elevn site is that this blog is huge and at any given time there are hundreds of people reading it so doing this change is out of the question.

It looks like WordPress 3.3 is just around the corner and I’m hoping doing an upgrade will solve this issue once and for all. I’ll continue to look for a solution online in the mean time.

The suggestions above were not intended as a solution. They are part of the basic troubleshooting process. Whatever this is, it’s not a WordPress core issue. It is specific to your site – so an upgrade is unlikely to fix anything.

    Hi Esmi,

After going through each of the Plug-ins installed one by one I was able to find the solution to this problem. It was Joost de Valk Robots Meta plug-in.

I was able to go in an uncheck the “Redirect search results pages when referrer is external” and this fixed my problem.

This was also causing the “Search” function on the site to just redirect to the home page without showing any relevant results.
