    Hi,

The Error message says “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

I have searched the forums and this seems to be a problem lots of people have had and the suggestion always is to change the permissions number on the wp-content folder and/or the uploads folder. I’ve tried these suggestions to no avail.

I was using the work around of just uploading my files via ftp and writing the file path into the code for my project pages but now I want to change the image on a slide page, which doesn’t show me the code when I click on the text tab. Help!

    Kind regards,
    Jack

Hi Jack are you file permissions correct? Do you have enough memory allocated to your website? When did this issue begin to appear?

Hi, I’m also having this issue and I cannot work out how to fix it! I spoke to my host and they also did not know what the issue is.
I’ve only just installed WP along with a theme I purchased and the first file I tried to upload I got the same message…

Hi @gembah check to see if you have an issue with a plugin or your theme.

What you will have to do is deactivate all your plugins except this one and carry out a test. If that does not work then change the theme to WordPress default theme and carry out another test.

    Hey @mbrsolution
    Thanks for replying to me!
I tried that, still doesn’t work.
Deactivated all the plugins and reverted to the WP default theme and I still get the same error.
It must be something to do with my host, I’m sure.
    SO frustrating!!!
Thank you for trying to help!

Hi @gembah have you had a look at the folder permissions? Which folder or files does it give you that error on?

I also get the exact same message when trying to upload anything…
“Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

Tried changing the permission settings to a variety of numbers I found when trailing through various discussions/forums (666/755 etc)

The host has also tried changing the settings too. I’m waiting for them to get back to me (smartyhost).

FYI my website is at inadifs.com

Very strange that it is the same path wp-content/uploads/2014/11 as @jpalancio.

I have this plugin installed in three websites without a problem. My host is Justhost. I even have my own VPS and have installed in my server as well. Actually I might test it in my server right now. I will report back soon.

Okay I did a test on one of my websites. I did receive an error 404, which is very strange. However it could also be because I use many different plugins.

What I did which work was to disable the flash upload. The file format that I test with the flash disabled was a png file.

Try that and see if that works for you.

I just uploaded a jpg file as well without a problem. So I can confirm that in my case it is a flash issue, probably with one of my other plugins.

I have this issue as well … I am using canvas with only three plugins and this is the message I get … “Unable to create directory uploads/2014/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”
    What should I do please

Hi @all Media Services, I just carried out a test on my VPS and the only problem I had was probably a clash with another plugin. So I disabled the flash upload and I was able to upload the images. But your issue is permissions issues which is totally different to what I experience right now.

    Check your folder permissions.

    Is this under Media Settings?
    Thanks

    mbrsolution

    (@mbrsolution)

No, you have to FTP into your server and find out what are the permissions.

Hi @all Media Services how did you go with that?
