• Could I ask for help investigating a strange error, please?

I have a WordPress site on an external service – swpics.co.uk. It has been working perfectly, until midway through a post two nights ago. I had been uploading .jpg images and displaying them in my post OK. Then I uploaded a .mp4 file – not large, only 19MB – and specified that it should be played with the media player.

Ever since then, any media upload I try to my Media Library (.jpg or .mp4) does not work. The upload proceeds, I see “crunching” but then but the thumbnail display in the Media Library is blank, and there is no information in the File Size. A direct link to the image’s URL produces a blank page.

I have tried accessing the uploads directory through my provider’s File Manager, and I see no evidence that any files have actually uploaded.

Can anyone tell me what’s going on, please? The main reason I am puzzled is because everything was working perfectly in the session until the mp4 upload, after which the Media Library upload suddenly doesn’t work.

Check if your disk space is full. If it is not, then check your server logs; this can provide valuable information about any errors that are occurring on the server. You should be able to access these logs through your hosting provider’s control panel or via FTP. Look for any error messages related to uploading or processing media files.
