Media links broken

  • Hi. I have a plugin that caused some media (thousands) to rename
    from:
    wp-content/uploads/2022/04/image1.jpg
    to:
    wp-content/uploads/2022/04/image1_somerandomletters.jpg

    It made some 404 errors because the images are attached in the posts resulting image doesn’t show because it has different file name. BUT THE CHANGED FILE NAME IS REGISTERED IN MEDIA.

    My Question
    Is there a plugin that can scan and replace all the missing images/videos with the similar file name that uploaded is uploaded in the media?

    We can’t do it manually because it contains thousands of images and we don’t have backup. We just want it to automatically find some broken images/video then replace it with the image/video from the SIMILAR name.

    For automatic renaming of your files, you can check this plugin.

    However, as you said a plugin also caused this issue and renamed all of your media files. Much simpler solution than using another plugin to undo this error is to restore a backup of your site and finding an alternative plugin than the one which forced renamed all your files resulting to 404.
