Hello again – The media register was working but now it seems to be stuck on a particular directory. The 2012 directory had 70 images and it showed 0% completion for 15 minutes so I stopped it. I tried with just 2012/02 directory with 14 images and it gets to 14% completion then gets stuck (see screen shot). I mean it shows no progress after that. I tried again on this directory but it shows 0% completion and I stopped it. I tried just one file on 2012/02 and it got to 0% completion so I stopped it. I think it registered that last file though even though it showed 0% completion.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

First, push “Dismiss” and update your settings.
“Bulk Register” is another way to do it.

If you’re moving Media Library, the following plugins are better.

Thanks – I have installed Moving Media Library on the source website and run the export. It ran fine. I then installed the plugin on the test website and ran the import. It ran fine without any errors but didn’t seem to do anything (I expected the images to be registered in the Media Library). If the plugin just copies over the images I already did that manually.

    As the description says.

The media files must be copied before importing the data.

You must copy the entire file from the previous server’s wp-content/uploads to the new server’s wp-content/uploads. This is not the job of the plugin. You have to do it in some way (e.g. FTP, rsync).
The plugin’s only job is to export and import the database.

Hi – Like I said, I did copy the images over manually first:
“If the plugin just copies over the images I already did that manually.”

I just expected that the images would be registered in the Media Library after I ran the import… that I would see them in the Media Library. It doesn’t matter too much as this is just a test environment and the posts show the images anyway.
