Media Selector can't see files

The Media Selector only sees a certain number of files in the folders or subfolders. I have a site that contains folders with back issues of a newsletter. Media Selector only sees the 10 or so most recent files, and cannot find the rest. If you open Media File Manager, all the files are there.
