whether i have Yoast SEO > Search Appearance > Media > ‘Redirect attachment URLs to the attachment itself?’ set to Yes or No makes no difference. either way, doing a site search displays attachment media.

am i misunderstanding how yoast search settings work?

it sure seems like ‘Show Media in search results?’ set to No would stop the attachment files from showing.

is there somewhere else where i should tell wordpress not to display image files?

again, my search results page looks the same regardless of what i have in my my yoast search settings.

we are using yoast version 9.3.

    thank you!

The ‘Show Media in search results?’ does not impact your local search functionality. It is designed for allowing or not allowing media attachments in Google and other search engines.

Please contact the plugin or theme feature that customizes the local search functionality.

Since the last week I have problems with the media too!

My blogposts are not appearing in Google search results. But the media attachements are…..

    Hi,

Please go to SEO-Search Appearance-Media and select YES. This will redirect your attachment page to the actual image itself. Google, will eventually deindex any attachment pages currently appearing in Google. It may take sometime but that is the expectation.

If you have specific question about how long it takes to remove content from Google please contact them. You may?contact Google by making a post on their forums:?https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters.

Note, that your actual image files will still get index. These will still appear in a Google Image search, it is only the attachment page that will drop off from Google NOT the actual image.

We also checked your sitemap here: https://www.lorettasdance.com/sitemap_index.xml. We do not see Posts (which are also called your Blog) appearing. We see products and pages but not posts. As they are not appearing on the sitemap, this may explain why they do not show in Google.

In this case go to SEO-Search Appearance-Content Types-Posts and make sure it says YES.

You may also need to resubmit your sitemap to Google to encourage Google to recrawl your site. This guide explains more: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6065812?hl=en
