• I have recently upgraded the WordPress version to latest version i.e 3.8 and I have experiencing error which I am not able to figure out why.

When uploading the images the upload stops after sometime and say “HTTP error” or it says “Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/content/96/10462496/html/XXXX/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php on line 338”

Strangely I cam find the images in the media Library after that but without any thumbnails of the images. When I edit the image via “Edit media option” i can see the image there, with file URL for the image.

When I click on the Edit image button below the image i get the following message “Image data does not exist. Please re-upload the image.” or if I preview the image via clicking on View Attachment page I can’t see the image.

FYI the site is hosted in GoDaddy.

Help in this issue will be appreciated.

  • Previously WordPress used to had an option to specify the upload directory which was subsequently withdrawn in version 3.7

Not withdrawn. Simply moved to a setting in your wp-config.php file if you wished to use a folder other than the default wp-content/uploads folder.

Yes but the GoDaddy is pointing since the WP_Option table doesn’t have the upload path the error is occurring, which seems to be not the case here.

Didn’t able to find the real problem here.

    Are media uploads working now?

    Nopes it is not working!!!

The changes or the path added to WP_option table didn’t resolve it, or not working.

The WordPress was installed manually and not using the GoDaddy automatic installation, so I guess this won’t apply here in my case, but I did had this link already sent to GoDaddy support team when I had raised the ticket and the above was their resolution for the problem.

I have attached the error screenshot in response to their resolution and awaiting their reply.

I guess this won’t apply here in my case

It possibly applies to any WP site hosted with GD. How you installed WP is not an issue.

Okay… I figured something out. Go into media settings, and uncheck “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)”

You should be able to upload the pictures without getting the HTTP error…

Then when I insert them in my post, instead of them being 1×1 like before, they’re HUGE! So now it’s a matter of figuring that part out…

The solution suggested in that post is for Using GoDaddy’s installer to install WP, but in my case I had downloaded the WP from the WP.Org and manually uploaded the files using FTP, So I guess I am right when I say that won’t apply in my case. Am I missing something?

I just setup a customer of mine with a BRAND NEW go daddy account. I used their installer to install WP which went smooth over 15 times for me in the past. This time, I have the same exact error here. Images upload, preview fine but won’t show on the page, instead they are broken links to 404’s and have question marks in their place. BUNK! I can not fix it using the methods found as far back as 1.5 years ago. Godaddy says they will reply within 3 hours yet it has been 15 now… They know it’s on their end and I DO TOO! WTF??? BRAND NEW INSTALL WITH NO PLUGINS AND USING DEFAULT THEME. All I did was try to add media to hello world and to be sure it wasn’t me, I deleted EVERYTHING and reinstalled again. Same result. Linux shared hosting btw
