    Hi,

I just purchased a new domain and hosting through GoDaddy. I did the 1 click WordPress set-up from their site. Everything on WordPress seems to be working fine with the exception of media uploading. The jpeg file once uploaded shows up as a blue question mark in a box. Here is the link.

Any thoughts on what I can do to rectify my issue? Is this likely an issue with my settings on GoDaddy?

    Thanks for the help.

I’m working on a site for a client. It is a brand new installation of WordPress 3.7.1 on GoDaddy. I have the exact same issue regarding images. Using Media, any images uploaded do not show up. Just blank white space. If you go to edit the image shows up. If you copy the image’s URL to a browser, you get a 404 page instead of the image.

I’ve done everything everyone has done above. I’ve checked all the permissions. I’ve checked that hotlinking is disabled. I’ve disabled all plugins and switched to twenty-thirteen. I even tried changing the htaccess file as per the post above: /public_html/wp-content/uploads/.htaccess.disabled.

None of these things have worked. I’m still unable to get images to show up on the site. The site URL is https://tlalexanderauthor.com. Does anyone have anything else to try?

Never mind. I manually installed 3.7 and it didn’t work either so I manually installed 3.6.1. NOW the media works.

The symptoms of my problem were exactly the same as everyone else, but my solution was completely different.

Shortly after setting up the blog I moved the blog to a different directory (from /testblog to /blog). While everything else with WordPress worked fine, the folder under Settings | Media was still pointing to the old /testblog folder and the Media files were being uploaded to this directory, but the rest of WordPress wasn’t using that directory.

Once I moved the Media files back into the /blog folder tree and updated the Settings | Media to point to the /blog folder as well, everything started working again.

Adding .disabled worked for me, also. Thanks!

My only concern is: Does this introduce any security risk to the site?
