• I just uploaded a small 2.5 min mp4 video to my website and got two warnings re: invalid arguments (see specific content of warnings below). The button that shows the upload process is frozen in the “Crunching” state. It “looks like” the file uploaded fine, in that I can view it from within the WordPress Dashboard; however, when I try to view it from the URL it won’t play. Here’s that URL: https://www.mandalahealingarts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/number-of-posts-display-on-frontpage.mp4

Is this a glitch in one of my WordPress files? I’m running 3.8.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Hi,

1.) The .mp4 file you linked to plays just fine here, are you sure you are using the browser that supports .mp4 playback?

2.) It could be WP error. Honestly I’m not sure because I’m not into video/audio stuff, but you can easily test this by disabling all of the plugins and activating a default theme. Then try uploading the same file again.

I typically use Chrome but have four of the major browsers. None of them would play this mp4 video.

Well, it’s the oddest thing. I decided to upload the video file via FileZilla in a new directory I created just for videos (outside of the WordPress path). It plays fine — in Chrome, and in all the browsers except Safari. Loads quickly with no problem.

So, there’s definitely a WordPress issue but I was able to workaround it.

I notice this issue came up in this forum a year ago and there were all kind of ideas about changing the theme, disabling plugins, etc. . . . and somehow I just took a chance to upload the media file outside of the WordPress environment.

    Very interesting, eh?

    Thank you for responding tho’.

    I’m having the same problem…….

Nobody’s offered any suggestions or anything like that either. Same exact circumstances as you.

I even went to getid3’s website and checked the requirements for the script and it’s just PHP, and the right version is installed. I cant figure it out to save my life. ??

    Help!? ??
