• I recently uploaded the arras theme and have been working with that trying to resolve a few minor issues there when today I tried to upload an image and it gives me the following error,

“Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/06. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

I had uploaded images not one hr. prior to this.

    I’m using bluehost.
    Any help/ideas/suggestions would be great!

    Thanks!

  • Chmod the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767 or 777.

    Hi,

Assign 766 recursive permissions to the wp-contents folder of your wordpress blog and make sure that you have correctly set the permalinks…

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

766 won’t work with BlueHost. You want to leave your directory as 755. You shouldn’t have any directory with higher permissions than 755. The problem here is the slash / in front of the wp-content/uploads…

    This is incorrect: /wp-content/uploads
    This is correct: wp-content/uploads

You can check this in your dashboard under Settings > Miscellaneous
