• Dear Team,

we’re using WP Offload S3 Lite on our Multisite Network and from time to time we have a really bad issue.

The Media URL seems to change automatically – we really don’t know why it is happening whether it’s an image oder pdf document.

    This is what happens.

Our Upload URL looks like this (edit*): https://s3?eu?central?1.amazonaws.com/bucket-name/folder/uploads/2018/05/14132552/photo.jpg

    *changed “bucket-name” and “folder”

And this is how the URL is changing to automatically: https://spreadmind.de/folder/uploads/2018/05/photo.jpg

As you can see, the important “s3-eu-central…” link is missing as well as the folder-number /14132552/

Do you know why this is happening? Or if anyone else has this problem, too?

Everytime our customers have to update every single page/post so that the URL links are right again. Or they even have to insert it completely new.

    Any ideas?

Hope you can help us out with this.

    Sincerely Anke

P.S.: We just updated WP Offload S3 lite to 1.3.2 and deactivated Amazon Web Services.

What version of WP Offload S3 Lite were you using prior to 1.3.2?

I take it https://spreadmind.de/folder/uploads/2018/05/photo.jpg is a “local” URL format for your site that would work if the image had not been removed from the server?

    Hi @ianmjones,

    Thanks for your response.

We were using version 1.1.6 and then 1.2 and after that 1.3.2.

Well propably yes as this should be the regular wordpress upload path…

Any ideas why this might happen? Did someone else reported that kind of issue in the past?

    Sincerely,
    Anke

    Hi @anke16,

Wanted to check what versions you’ve used in case it was an issue with the migration from S3 URLs embedded in database content to being local with filtering. Given your version history, that shouldn’t be the problem as you’ve never had S3 URLs embedded in the database. (this is good)

So here’s the million dollar question, what theme (or parent theme) are you using, or are you using a “page builder” plugin of some sort?

    Hi @ianmjones,

we’re using Headway an Divi. To one customer (Theme Headway) it already happened twice.

Divi itself seems to have a big problem with pictures uploaded to Amazon S3 as they will not being displayed when activiating the visual builder. We already reportet this issue to the development team.

    Hi @anke16,

Ah, OK. Divi has code to integrate with WP Offload S3, but we’ve recently found an issue with its Visual Builder, it works fine when editing and saving a post but when you return to edit a post with Visual Builder it doesn’t properly load the S3 URLs.

We’re hoping to add an integration to WP Offload S3 (not Lite as it’s a paid for theme that we have to spend time testing and supporting) to a forthcoming release that fixes Divi’s Visual Builder.

    Cheers,

    Ian
