URGENT — Help!! Migrated to new server, using temporary domain to set up, then tonight switched site over to permanent domain (pdxaa.org) and Meetings page was okay but links to meetings still showed the temporary domain as the path – but everything worked. I downloaded a CSV backup of the list, then tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin and restoring the data. When I check in the dashboard, the meetings are all there but the link in “Where’s My Info” that should go to the public list is broken – page not found. How can I restore that page?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Never mind – I got the hosting provider’s tech support to look at it and they have resolved the problem, something about updating permalinks. Please close this ticket.

Glad you got it resolved, and thanks for keeping us posted.

I just wanted to chime in, even though this has been resolve, because the same thing happened to me. If this happens to others: I found a plugin that can do a find and replace. So if you find the name of the temporary site and replace it with the correct one, most of the issues are solved. Additionally, double-check links on WordPress pages to file links. These were the only ones that seemed not to react to the find and replace. It saved my Bhind….

Oh, and another thing that came to mind:
if you are changing back to an existing site, you will find that a lot of the Google-stored and individual computer-stored links to your site will end up in a ‘nothing found’ page on your new site. Found an excellent plugin for that as well: Redirecting.
You can enter the old page addresses and refer to your new site.
    Hope this helps someone!

Thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts. I did use the Better Find Replace plugin and it replaced a lot of links but it apparently didn’t touch the permalinks that were causing the problem with download manager files and Meeting Guide entries. Our hosting company’s tech support took care of those, not sure what they did but it worked. I would have had to resort to case by case rewriting, they may have a script for it.

Yeah. I’ve had some cases where just changing the URL in the settings was sufficient, and others (hosting service included) where I needed to search for links to change. And just recently on my own dev server, I had to go into the database to change a reference for the meetings page.

Simply, plugins as suggested can help, but they may not always be conclusive. Best to test test test, and be prepared to search the database to change any final things.
