Member capabilities – how do I adjust?

Hi Guys,

I’m trying to create a membership website and I want to adjust the capabilities of the members. It’s a website for a yoga school, so we’ve got two types of members; teachers and students. I need to be able to change what they’re able to do on the site. For example:

Teachers should be able to schedule classes.
Students should NOT be able to schedule classes.
Students should be able to book places in classes.
Teachers should NOT be able to book places in classes.

You get the idea. Anyone know of a plugin/group of plugins I could do this with? Anyone know of a plugin close to that which I might be able to hack slightly? Any other suggestions? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
