Member plugin – register approval, restrict downloads, members only pages

    I’ve seen a few members plugins but was wondering if any of them can do a few things i need.

    1) When somebody registers it needs to be approved before they can use the account.

    2) I have file upload fields on one of my custom post types. I need to only allow registered users to view the files. When someone who isn’t logged in clicks on one of the files they get taken to the registration/login page, then when they login they get taken back to the page they were on.

    3) Members only pages. There needs to be some pages that only user that are logged in can see and view. So the page isn’t even visible in the menu unless the user is logged in. These pages will contain downloads as well for members only.

    I’ve seen a couple of plugins that can do one of these or something similar, but i was just wondering is there any that can do all of this?

    Hi,

    Im looking for the same. i.e.

    • admin can set the fields the user need to register with
    • members can register
    • admin can approve the register (if needed)
    • site have a gated section that requires the user to log in

    @sirpajmcgyver – WP-Members does the first three for sure, and the last one it depends on how you picture that process working. It blocks any content that you want to block, but it not really a “gated section” in that menu items and titles are there. But those issues can be overcome at the template level (and likewise in the menu). You can review the plugin page or check here for the Users Guide to see if the features suit you.

    @corbula – the one thing aside from the above that you were looking for was download restriction which WP-Members does not do directly. You can obviously put the link behind a restricted area, but the direct link itself is not restricted.
