Member Search Help and a couple Ideas!

  • First of all I want to say Thank you for the awesome job on this plugin!

    I have a couple issues I need help with and a couple ideas for maybe a future version. =)

    1. Lets say I have a profile field called “Race” (White, Black, Asian…) with drop down box for options. When the user edits this field they are only allowed to pick one option for their “Race”. Now when that option is created on a search form it only allows the user searching to select one “Race” It would be nice to have a drop down with check boxes to choose more than one “Race”.

    2. This sorta goes with the first request. Offer a “check all” box on the dropdown option so people can check all istead of individually checking 10 options.

    3. When using the “Range” option when making a search form Instead of having the person typing something in a blank box (They may make typos or enter characters that do not relate) have the ranges do drop down boxes to choose from the options given in the profile field.

    If anyone has a fix to these or ideas to make this work would be awesome!

    Hi Minneapollution,

    Thanks for your suggestions in points 1 and 2, that’s something I plan to add in a future version.

    About point 3, the search form display is controlled by the form template you choose. For instance if you choose the members/bps-form-sample-1 template, an Age Range search field is rendered with two drop-downs as you suggest. If you can code, you can also modify a form template and display your search form according to your needs.
