Hello – we have a very standard type of e-commerce site (using WooCommerce), and are now looking to add the following functionality:

We’d create a new role on the website (let’s call it the “Member” role), and then manually add certain customers as members. At that point, when a user with this role logs in, the following happens:

1 – This user can see all of the products on the site, with the only difference being that the purchase price is hidden on the product pages (as well as in the cart, and on the checkout page).

2 – When the user adds a product to his cart and is on the ‘Checkout’ page, instead of selecting ‘Credit Card’ or ‘PayPal’, the user would select from options such as ‘Purchase Order’ or ‘Store Credit’. There would also be a field to collect the purchase order if applicable, along with a field for other notes on the order.

Note: the cart should also automatically populate the client’s address from the user’s database entry.

3 – And then on the final payment page, there wouldn’t be a payment gateway to validate and process the order. Instead, the order would be completed automatically (and also trigger an e-mail to someone in the company). Someone on the team would then contact the customer to follow-up and get paid.

I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations on a plug-in (or plug-ins) that could be used to accomplish this. Also, do you think it’d be better to do this via modifying or extending the existing WooCommerce setup, or to create a totally different website geared just for this purpose.

    Thanks for your advice,
    Jim

  • What is the average value of the products you are selling?

This can be easily done with some customization to Woocommerce. This could probably be done from the same store so that your users don’t have to register for another site.

Thanks for the reply, retentionmediaseo! This is good news, and I will take that under consideration as we approach developers to get quotes.

    Thanks again,
    Jim
