I am currently testing the membership plugin on my site to hide some content from users who are not logged in or dont have the right role.

On the website there are two ways to register:

1: as a freelancer (zzp registration) – this is a payed membership using the membership registration and payment form. This one works.

2: as a company (opdrachtgever registration) – This one is a free registration for companies to post jobs. This registration uses the default registration page of the wpjobboard plugin.

When a user registers using option 1, he is given a default role (candidate). This is true in wpjb as in membership plugin
When a user registers using option 2, he is given a default role (employer). This is true in worpress wpjb but not in membership plugin.

It seems dat membership plugin does not see any role at all. I need to edit the user and give the role of “employer” manually, else the user wont be able to see the menus belonging to that role.

How can i fix this ?

    Thank you in advance

    Hi @talagor,

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

To assign specific user role to the users having specific membership level could you please try setting associated user role to the membership level on the following path for your option 2 membership subscription?

Admin Area -> Membership -> Access Levels -> Advanced (both) -> Associated Role

    Best Regards,

Hello and thank you for your response.

I just checked that setting and is is set to the associated role of employer, which is correct.

I am also pretty sure that at in the beginning when i started to set this up, it worked.

    Hi @talagor,

Could you please share me the screenshots of your Membership subscriptions plans, access levels & their rules and Membership General Options so that i can troubleshoot it?

For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, https://imgur.com/ or other image service. ??

Hello and thanx for your reply.

You will find the screenshots here: https://imgur.com/a/jHDQD?

You will notice that there are 2 subscription plans. One for monthly payment, the other for annual payment. Both are only applicabel to the candiate role.

Since mployers do not need to pay, they have no subscription plan but use the wpjobboard registration process.

You will also notice that upon registration, the user is getting the role of employer. Just not in the memberschip plugin.

If i assign that role manually in the membership plugin, all works well.

    Hi @talagor,

Thank you for sharing the screenshots.

It seems from your shared screenshots that for Membership access levels you have set positive and negative rules but not the Advanced (both) rule where you can assign the user Associated Role as described in my previous reply.

    Please advise.

Hi and thanx for getting back on this.

I just did assign the usera ssociated rule to the advanced rule (both) for all 3 access levels and posted the screenshots for you to review.

But…still no fun. Registering as a employer, i will be given the employer role in WP, but not in the membership plugin.

I am starting to abandon hope….

    Hi @talagor,

But…still no fun. Registering as a employer, i will be given the employer role in WP, but not in the membership plugin.

The membership plugin uses the same user role as WordPress.

I think you are referring Employer membership access level as Employer role, is it right?

Please share me your site URL where you are using it so that i can test it there.

Hello Vinod and thanx so far.

I really needed to go live with the site and could not wait any longer to fix the problem, so i had to switch to another solution.

Thank you again, and i am sure we would have solved this given more time.

    Hi @talagor,

    You are most welcome.

FYI you will find more information about the usage of this plugin on the following page. Some of the functionality described on the following page is not available in this free version of Membership plugin.

If i can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to ask ??

    Have a fantastic day!
