This is not a pressing issue as our site still loads fine either way, I can’t really notice any change in speed. So I am maybe more curious as to why the memcache toggle in the SG Optimizer plugin keeps turning itself off after a few days.

Memcache is on in cPanel, I then turn it on in the plugin and it confirms memcache is on. I go away and check the next day, still on. After maybe 2 or 3 days I find it simply off with no warning or notices of any kind, just off.

I have been in touch with SG support and they said something about resetting the port by turning it off and on again in cPanel, yet the ‘problem’ persists.

What I have also found is core dump files in wp-admin. It’s been a while since I’ve seen such files, I know what they are, so I deleted them. A few more showed up, deleted those, and it’s been a few days since and no new ones have presented themselves.

What causes these core dumps is what I don’t know. I once looked into a core dump file, but unless you really know what to look for, its not easy to make any sense of whats in there, and they can be huge.

Can this memcache toggle anomaly be related to the core dump files I’m seeing? The core dumps have stopped, yet the memcache keeps turning itself off.

Yes and no. I have 2 sites in my GoGeek account. I turn both memcache on, and a day or say later one is still on, and the other off. This says to me that it’s something on one of the sites that’s making it do that, but what exactly? The one site that stays on is only a coming soon landing page, the one that goes off is a 4 year old active blog with hundreds of visits a day.
