• Hi. I am a newbie to WordPress and I’ve managed to get a home page done as well as a contact page (my site will be just those two pages).

Above, I’ve linked to my home page. Problem is the menu links just below the title of my site in the header:

    1) I want to have a menu of the links to my pages but I don’t want the “Home” link to show above the text, as I have on my contact page , which I am happy with. I want the menu to provide the “Home” link but whenever I set it up, WordPress automatically puts “home” above the text that I have written. How can I show “Home” in the menu but NOT have it appear above my text?

    2) How can I get rid of the “Sample Page” and the link to the sample page in the automatically generated menu?

I thank you in advance for your attention to these queries!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,

I wonder if you already solve the problem.

    1. maybe a photo can help to describe more on this… I don’t really understand. Im sorry. Note: You might want to reconsider the url structure…maybe option out for https://twopiesandasquiggle.com instead of adding /home in the end

    2. Inside the admin panel go to page > all pages (located left side) and delete the pages you dont want.

to make it disappear from the menu, access the menu option by clicking the Appeareance > menu (located left side). Here you can find under the setting, uncheck the “automatically add new page…” and also delete the “sample page from your menu list”…

    Hi bettineoloeo,

Thanks for #2 response…I was able to successfully eliminate the unwanted third page, as well as the reference to it in the menu.

As for my other concern, I have now gone back to that page and titled it (as “Home”), so that “Home” correctly appears as one of the two pages in the menu, just below the top heading of the site.

BUT…once I inputted “Home” in the title area, “Home” ALSO now appears in large letters above my text on page one (see: https://twopiesandasquiggle.com/home/). It is THIS I want to get rid of, while still maintaining “Home” in the menu.
