Menu categories not showing up in child theme

Hi all,

I’ve created a child theme and I’m having a problem. I followed the WordPress instructions (carefully) to create a child theme and when I switched to it, the menu structure wasn’t displaying properly anymore. The categories won’t show up and the rest of the menu links are stuck in what appears to be alphabetical order.
When I revert to the original theme everything is fine. Also I’ve tried to delete and recreate the menu structure.
This is my first attempt at making a child theme. Can someone help me.
